While I am from and currently live in the United States of America, I was raised the child of missionary parents in South Asia, growing up in several different cultures. Its perhaps for this reason that I have a passion for exploring how the Scriptures speaks to the Christian’s place in the world and stance towards one’s particular cultural context. In addition to research associate, I serve as programme coordinator for the MA in Theology degree, offered in partnership between Union Theological College and the BibleMesh Institute. I also hold the position of dean of the BibleMesh Institute, where I teach theology and oversee curriculum and faculty. In 2010 I completed a BA in Recreation Leadership at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, in Belton, Texas in the United States, and an MDiv (2015) at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, North Carolina, where I also completed a PhD in Systematic Theology (2022). I have published on the theology and social ethics of Abraham Kuyper, Klaas Schilder, Herman Bavinck, and I have a forthcoming co-authored book on the theology of culture with B&H Academic. I am also co-editing a new edition of several of Schilder’s works. My work with Kuyper has looked specifically at debates in the Dutch Reformed churches over the reception of his doctrine of common grace, examining how the doctrine and its critique from figures like Schilder makes sense of Kuyper’s leveraging of historical consciousness for the development of a socio-cultural programme for Christians in the world. I am especially interested in the relationship between the periodization of time and Christian historical consciousness, and how this informs various frameworks for cultural engagement.
